The Light – Acid techno / hard house / dubstep crossover?
Mar 3rd, 2010 by
Oscar TG
After going through some old hard house records and remembering what it was about them I liked, I hit upon the mad idea of combining the two. After a little playing around, I discovered it wasn’t actually all that mad, they go together quite well. This is what I’ve come up with – Come To The Light. It’s a really rough render, but I’ve put it up for feedback, so critque away!

Thor Dubstep Bass – free patch
Feb 26th, 2010 by
Oscar TG
I spend a lot of time tweaking patches within Reason to get the sounds I want, so I thought I’d share some of the patches I’ve made. Here’s the first, a self-randomising dubstep style bass using just a Thor synthesiser.

Feb 24th, 2010 by
Oscar TG
Red Robot Records resident downtempo duo Ghetto Mullet have a new single coming out on 31st May 2010 entitled Sounds Of The System, and I’ve put together this little remix. It’s a bit different from my usual output, and has been likened to Joker and Kode9!

Run With The Flame – Collaboration with Will Scarlett
Jan 26th, 2010 by
Oscar TG
Following on from our successful collaboration Sexy Face, which was released digitally worldwide by Red Robot and on CDS in Australia by Starcharged, I’ve hooked up again with Will Scarlett to collaborate on a new track, Run With The Flame. Will sent me the vocals, I set to work on the music. It’s a cross-over dubstep/hip-hop/breaks tune and MC Flip T, with whom I collaborated on Welcome To The Future, will be adding more vocals.

Icara 7 (Balearic Dub)
Jan 22nd, 2010 by
Oscar TG
I started to remix my own track, Icara 7 into a darker, electro breakbeat mix, but things took an unexpected turn as I experimented with different sounds, and the end result is a progressive house stomper with lush pads and stabbed piano chords.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here . You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
The single is due for release on 7th June 2010 through Red Robot Records, complete with remixes by Dirty Rhythm Syndicate, Newport based Kinzy and more.
Icara 7 (2010 Version)
Jan 15th, 2010 by
Oscar TG
As the name suggests, this is a reworking of an old track of mine. I originally wrote the riff back in March 2003, and the original version was a rather poorly executed trance affair. In September 2007, another version of this track reached number 4 in the Big City Beats contest run by BeatsFactory.com, although I wasn’t 100% happy with the track.
This updated version has wobbly bass, syncopated polyrhythmic percussion and layers of sounds, and I’ve reinstated the massive trance breakdown from the first version.

Update 19/01/10: Updated audio with slightly revised version, and added new artwork, done by myself in Photoshop CS2.
Deadly Furniture
Jan 14th, 2010 by
Oscar TG
After another spate of remixing other people’s tracks, including a couple of remix contests (I do love a good contest), I’ve gone back and written another new original track. This is the first proper render I’m happy to share, but probably isn’t the final version, I’ll tweak it over the coming weeks and months before I’m finally happy with it.
Growling filtered bass and rolling synths, underpinned by a driving breakbeat. Synths, bass, drums all programmed in Reason, rewired into Acid Pro 7 where the vocal samples were added.

MAINLINE PROJECT – Not Yet Broken (Oscar TG Breaks It Mix)
Dec 23rd, 2009 by
Oscar TG
Last quick remix before Christmas, this is a track I was originally asked to remix this track by Bennett, Wreked Records head honcho back in 2007. The progressive house remix I put together at the time didn’t do the original drum & bass track justice, so I shelved the remix. I thought it was time I went back to it and had another go, and this is the result of a couple of hours’ work. I don’t know if it’ll ever be released, have to wait and see!

TRASHED: December 2009
Dec 21st, 2009 by
Oscar TG
Just in time for Christmas, the December edition of my Trashed mixes, containing my remix of Will Scarlett’s Xmas Spirits and dub of my own track, Midnight, the originals of both of which can be found on the St Nick Sessions Vol 1 from Red Robot Records. Also included are my Progressive Mix of Niki Carrera’s new single, Different Colours, out in January 2010 through Red Robot (with two other of my remixes) and my bootleg remix of Michael Jackson’s classic Billie Jean. It’s a bit more commercial perhaps than my other Trashed mixes, but hey, it’s Christmas!
